David A. Gillespie
President and CEO

Prior to joining New Generation Biofuels, Mr. Gillespie served as Vice President of Business Development and Asset Management of Duke Energy Corporation from 2001 to 2006. Duke Energy is New York Stock Exchange listed (DUK), Fortune 500, energy company with business units that have included regulated gas pipeline and electric utilities natural gas liquids processing, and domestic and international merchant energy. While at Duke Energy, Mr. Gillespie led all aspects of Duke Energy North America's $3 billion, 200+ employee, 8000 megawatt generation business in the western United States and Canada. From 1998-2001 he served as a Senior Director - Asset Management of Duke Energy, during which he provided overall leadership for that company's merchant power projects in Connecticut and Maine. Prior to joining Duke Energy, Mr. Gillespie served in various capacities with The United Illuminating Company ("UIL") from 1982 to 1998. The United Illuminating Company is a New York Stock Exchange Listed (UIL) investor owned electric utility with annual revenues of $1.2 billion located in New Haven, Connecticut.



Cary J. Claiborne

Cary J. Claiborne, Chief Financial Officer, joined New Generation Biofuels in December 2007. Prior to joining New Generation Biofuels, Mr. Claiborne served as the Chief Financial Officer of Osiris Therapeutics, a publicly traded Biotech company from 2004 to 2007, where he led the Company’s finance and information technology organizations and served as a strategic business partner to the Chairman of the Board and CEO. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Claiborne was the Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis at Constellation Energy, a Fortune 200 diversified Energy Company. At Constellation he oversaw a budget consisting of $12 billion in revenue and over $500 million in net income. Prior to joining Constellation, Mr. Claiborne was the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at Home Depot, Inc., where he oversaw a budget of $46 billion in revenue and $3 billion in net income. Before joining Home Depot, Mr. Claiborne was also the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at MCI Corporation, where he supervised the financial planning and analysis activities for MCI’s Core Communications group ($33 billion in Revenue).

Mr. Claiborne spent the first 15 years of his career at General Electric, where he held numerous senior leadership positions, leading to President and CEO of New Enterprise Wholesale Services. In this role, he directed the business activities of an $80 million telecommunications reseller. Prior to this position, he was Senior Vice President and CFO of GE Capital Business Services and Director of Operations Analysis for GE Capital. Mr. Claiborne earned an MBA in Finance from Villanova University and a BA in business administration from Rutgers University.



Phillip J. Wallis
Chief Marketing Officer

Phillip J Wallis, Chief Marketing Officer, joined New Generation Biofuels in January 2008. Phillip, a native New Zealander, previously worked at Chevron Corporation for 15 years and held several senior level marketing positions at Chevron including Manager, Regional Sales and Solutions for Asia Pacific and Africa, where he was responsible for developing the go to market strategy for that $160 million business. Additionally, he was Country Manager, Asphalt & Marine and Senior Commercial Business Manager, Sales, for Caltex, New Zealand Ltd. (Chevron Zealand Ltd). During his tenure Mr. Wallis oversaw a sales increase from $50 million to $200 million, a growth of 400%.

Previous to his positions at Chevron, Mr. Wallis was the Marketing Manager for UDC Finance Ltd, Invercargill (New Zealand). At UDC Finance, he developed the Company’s marketing plan and brand.



Andrea Festuccia, PhD.
Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Festuccia received his PhD in chemical engineering from the University “la Sapienza” of Rome. Mr. Festuccia is the Director of the “Environment and Territory Business Unit” of IGEAM S.r.l. where he has worked since June 1999. Prior to his current position with IGEAM S.r.l., Mr. Festuccia was the Director of Special Research Projects at IGEAM S.r.l. More >

Mr. Festuccia was Adjunct Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry with the University of “La Tuscia” of Viterbo from 1999 to 2000. Mr Festuccia is member of the Board of Directors of 3TI Progetti Italia since 2004. Mr. Festuccia is currently an external consultant with the University “La Sapienza” of Rome, a position that he has held since 2001. He also worked as an external expert for the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy-Farnesina from 2002-2004 and as Technical Director of Ecosystems S.r.l. from 2002. .Mr. Festuccia has over 10 years of national and international professional experience in both chemical, mechanical and environmental engineering and in environmental management projects, leading specific task forces for the R&D of many international projects. Mr. Festuccia collaborated as inventor or co-inventor to the definition of more than 10 PCT and worldwide patents in the chemical engineering application.



Connie Lausten, P.E.
VP of Regulatory and Legislative Affairs

Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Lausten served as Manager Of Federal Affairs for four years for National Grid USA where she was the lead Washington representative for lobbying Congress and the Administration on behalf on National Grid. More >

Ms. Lausten served at the Federal Regulatory Commission and in Congress on the Subcommittee for Energy Policy, Natural Resources & Regulatory Affairs where she was instrumental in designing western United States energy legislation which was subsequently implemented by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She is a recipient of the American Society of Mechanical Engineer Congressional Fellowship and served in the office of former member Cal Dooley of California.

Ms. Lausten's extensive engineering background includes serving as a Senior Engineer for Bechtel Power Inc., where she engineered and managed renewable energy commercialization projects and as an engineer with Alternative Energy Development, Inc., a consulting and project development firm, as a renewable energy specialist assigned to the World Bank's Asia Energy Unit where she provided engineering and economic expertise.

Dave is a former ExxonMobil/Mobil executive where he held domestic and international leadership responsibilities in fuels, lubricants, and chemicals. His assignments covered a wide range of areas including manufacturing, marketing, supply/distribution, operations, engineering, and sales. More >

Dave has also been a consultant and he led the supply chain organization for MeadWestvaco, a Fortune 500 paper and packaging solutions company based in Richmond, VA. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from University of Minnesota along with graduate studies at both the University of Texas at Dallas and Northeastern University in Boston.



Philip R. Cherry, Jr.
VP of Engineering and Operations

Philip R. Cherry, Jr. joined NGB as Vice President of Engineering and Operations in June 2008. Mr. Cherry was previously employed by the ethanol producer VeraSun Energy from 2007 through May 2008 as Director of Operations, Start-Up / Shut Down Support Systems where he was responsible for the commissioning, initial operation and annual maintenance shutdowns of a fleet of ethanol facilities. Prior to joining VeraSun, Mr. Cherry worked for U.S. BioEnergy providing contract management to ethanol facility owners. Mr. Cherry was also President of The O-H Group from 2003 through 2006, providing project management and technical consulting services to renewable fuel producers. From 1994 to 2003 he served as Senior Scientist with Alisto Engineering Group and provided project management, environmental compliance and technical engineering consulting services to clients in the government, chemical, petroleum, power, and water industries. Additionally, for nine years he worked for Mobil Oil Corporation in a variety of process and scientific roles.

Mr. Cherry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Chapman University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Coalition for Ethanol, the California Biomass Collaborative and ASTM International.
